We will issue a number to each 50CC EW and 100CCC EWE
rider prior to the ride. This number will be the order in which you will be
leaving the staging area. If you are a 100CCC WEW rider, your order should
be the same as in San Diego. However, since there are far fewer riders and
you have a time stamp. This will be loosely controlled. Riders
who are doing a SS5000 on the front end of the ride received the lowest
numbers, second were riders doing the 50CC EW and then riders doing the
100CCC EWE. The ride order within each class was determined by a random
draw. Riders who expressed the desire to ride as a group only had one tag in
the draw and were assigned sequential numbers based upon that tag.
Note 100CCC WEW Riders. You must
get a gas receipt at the start of the second leg at the same station in
which you got your ending receipt for the first leg. This serves as you
ending and starting time stamps.
We will start releasing riders at 5:45 EST (2:45 PST) in
the Shell station parking lot. Riders will be released a couple a time. We
do not want riders riding in a pack for safety reasons. Our goal is to get
all riders out by 6:15 EST (3:15 PST) and release the witnesses by that
time. If you arrive at the staging area after 6:30 EST (3:30 PST), you will
not be counted as part of the ride.
Have your witness form filled out and your odometer
reading recorded. The witness should simply have to fill in the time, their
personal information, and sign the form.
When you are ready to go, advise one of the witnesses.
They will validate your odometer reading and license plate number; and add
the time and their personal information to the witness form.
Once your witness form is signed. Notify the ride
coordinator and they will direct you with regard to staging for
release.
When you are released from the staging area, you are
expected to go directly to the get your gas receipt. If you do not do this
then it will throw off the coordination of the witnesses on the west coast.
Plan accordingly. Eat breakfast before staging; get your sand and water the
before staging if you do not want it to be a part of the ride; etc.
Gas up and get a receipt at: Shell #112 - 1539 South 3rd
Street, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250, 904-249-1512
If you have not collected your sand and water: Go just two blocks east on 16th Avenue South to collect your sand and water at the beach access. We will try to arrange for a backup witness to be there to take photos. However, you may want to go to the beach in pairs and take photos of each other.
Your off to San Diego. Ride safe, don't push your limits, and most of all enjoy your ride. From the beach access, you will then return to 3rd Street North and make a left (south). You will travel south along 3rd Street North for about 2.4 miles (just past 37th Avenue - about 21 blocks) to J. Turner Butler Boulevard (Rt. 202). This will take you to I95 North and then on to I10 East. The 21 blocks or so down 3rd Street North (AIA) has several stop lights and could be busy at certain times of the day but should not be a problem on Saturday morning. J.T. Butler Boulevard (Rt. 202) not only is limited access, but it is rural, low traffic, high speed limit with traffic running at or above the posted speed limit.
