The Site Coordinators have volunteered to make this ride happen. Please treat them respectfully.
The MTF is very safety conscious. While the MTF is only providing logistical support for your ride, we have an obligation to the Long Distance Riding community to insure that you comply with the guidelines as stipulated on this page and on the Home Page for this ride at http://www.mctourer.com/rides/2005SS1000/index.htm
The Site Coordinator has full authority to limit participation for any reason.
If your participation is terminated prior to start of the ride AND you have treated the Site Coordinator respectfully, you will receive a full refund.

The MTF and IBA are dedicated to SAFE long distance riding.
If at anytime during the ride you question whether or not you should continue, by all means should terminate the ride.
Listening to your body is an important part of long distance riding and you should not continue unless you are comfortable with your physical and mental state.
If you terminate the ride or have an accident, you must notify the Site Coordinator as soon as reasonably possible.
If you complete the ride, you should check in with the site coordinator immediately.
Failure to report at the end of the ride or in the event of termination may result in suspension from future MTF Events.
This is an out and back route (“sit there, twist that”) simple, yet very challenging.
From the start you will travel North on Blue Lakes Blvd North to I84.
You will turn East (into the sunrise) on I84 toward Pocatello.
Just after the Chubbuck exit (Pocatello area), I84 merges into I15.
You will turn North onto I15 and continue North to Great Falls, Montana.
You will then reverse your route and return to the Mr. Gas in Twin Falls by the same route with the same mandatory stops.
Attention Riders: You should download the Witness Forms and Gas Log and complete before arriving at the site.
The Site Coordinator has approved the directions provided below.
These directions are based upon the recommendation of Microsoft Streets and Trips 2004 - Quickest Route.
There may be alternate routes to each mandatory stop.
In fact, the Garmin Mapsource file that is provided below may be different from the described route.
However, we do recommend that you follow the suggested route.
Click here for Route MAP and Directions (PDF) Warning: Stops #2 & 4 near Pocatello have been relocated to 4444 Yellowstone, not 5059 Yellowstone as shown. Departing Twin Falls SS1000: * * * THE GAS RECEIPT'S COMPUTER TIME STAMP WILL BE YOUR OFFICIAL STARTING TIME * * * You MUST pick up receipts at the following stops in order to validate the corners of the approved route:
In the event one of these locations is closed, out of business, burned down, etc., you must get your computerized receipts from the nearest possible provider. We have done everything we can to validate the availability of these locations, but things can happen. You must also keep all other gas receipts for route verification. Ideally these are computerized receipts that contain the accurate location, date and time of your stop. You should also note your time and your mileage on the receipt with a ballpoint pen. An explanation will be necessary for illegible, missing or non-computerized receipts. It is acceptable to note corrected information on receipts and have them witnessed by the attendant. The purpose here is to validate your ride not deny it. Other computerized receipts that contain the same information are acceptable (food, atm, etc). You must also document rest stops, but receipts are not necessary for rest stops. Please note, there are some pretty empty stretches of highway on this route. With proper gasoline management you should be fine. The key words are gasoline management. DO NOT PASS UP FUEL UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN YOU CAN MAKE IT TO NEXT AVAILABILITY. Better to put in a quarter tank than to push your bike 50 miles. That being said, it is also not safe to carry gasoline anywhere but in your motorcycle gas tank. There are portions of this route that can be infested with various sorts of critters. Please be careful. This route can also be subjected to rain, snow, sleet, hail, wind, earthquakes and other acts of nature. Proper riding gear will go a long way toward conquering these sorts of challenges. Your ride will not be certified (a) if you receive a moving violation, (b) if your motorcycle appears unsafe, (c) if you are not wearing a helmet during the entire ride or (d) if you evidence a bad attitude. We will not inspect your motorcycle. But if we become aware of an unsafe condition (e.g. gas leaking on the manifold) we will call it to your attention and possibly disqualify your ride. We are not and don’t pretend to be mechanics or safety inspectors. We only care about you completing a safe and enjoyable ride. You must have a motorcycle endorsement on your license and a current proof of insurance card. Adequate life and health insurance are also important. In view of the long and desolate stretches of scenic slab and breathtaking vistas, one may wish to have a life-flight plan as well if needed. The route is 1,040.16 miles. The Site Coordinators have personally made this little jaunt a time or two, and it’s awesome.
Returning from the Twin Falls SS1000: * * * THE GAS RECEIPT'S COMPUTER TIME STAMP WILL BE YOUR OFFICIAL ENDING TIME * * * |

Riders will be required to acknowledge their responsibilities during the registration process. Each rider is responsible for their own ride. The MTF is helping with the logistics by planning a route and arranging for witnesses; however, the rider is responsible for the ride. Safety is of primary importance.
If the MTF discovers that a rider has violated their responsibilities, even if it is after the ride is certified, the MTF will notify the IBA and the certification will be revoked.
T-CLOCK is a mnemonic developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation for assisting you in doing a comprehensive pre-ride (or a pre-purchase) inspection of a motorcycle. It is easily memorized and very useful. The individual letters stand for the specific areas to check:
Tires and wheels
Controls
Lights and electrical
Oil and fluids
Chassis
Kickstand
