Chevron
17790 56 Ave
Surrey BC V3S
(604) 574-0040

*Note: The spirit of the ride requires that you do the ride in the U.S., sans border crossings. Originally we were going to require receipts on each side of the border. However, folks could still cut back across the border. Therefore we will be evaluating your stop logs carefully.
  • We have added an amendment to the traditional stop log requiring you to document your route from: 1) Edmundston, NB required stop to first gas stop and  2) Matamoros, Mexico required stop to first gas stop after Mexico.
  • You will also be required to make a stop at both Blaine and WA and Surrey, BC. to insure that you stay in the U.S. to the western most border crossing.
    • Bill Watt has provided comments regarding the Blaine/Surrey border crossing.

Bill recommends taking the truck crossing and notes the middle lane seems faster most of the time. When he scouted the route he noted at Peace Arch crossing lines were 2 hours each way 30- 40 minute waits at the truck crossing. He also notes, Surrey is hell to get around in and the Vancouver traffic is a disaster with the Olympic construction. The road up the Fraser canyon has been closed at Spence’s Bridge due to a complete slide and wash out so you may be n the Coquilhalla toll road (less scenic) on the way to Hyder.

    • From Microsoft Streets and Trips: Summary: 8.8 miles (15 minutes)
      Time Mile Instruction
9:00 AM 0.0 Depart I5 Exit 275 on Ramp (North)

      9:15 AM 8.8 Mandatory Stop at Chevron [17790 56 Ave, Surrey BC V3S, (604) 574-0040]

If it is determined that you elected to take a route through Canada or Mexico instead of the U.S. route required by the spirit of the ride, your ride will not be certified.

This ride is approximately 5200 miles and you will be allowed 6 days to complete the ride.

All registration fees for online registrants must be paid by May 2, 2007 or your registration will be cancelled.
During the registration process you will be required to consent to the MTF Event Agreement and Waiver.
Review it thoroughly before registering for this ride.

The MTF will submit your ride to the IBA for certification. The certification fee for this ride is $45.00 (same as if you submitted your ride directly to the IBA). If you want to make a donation to the MTF, you will be provided the opportunity to do that during the registration process. Important Safety Information

  1. What are the rider's responsibilities?

Riders will be required to acknowledge their responsibilities during the registration process. Each rider is responsible for their own ride. The MTF is helping with the logistics by planning a route and arranging for witnesses; however, the rider is responsible for the ride. Safety is of primary importance.

If the MTF discovers that a rider has violated their responsibilities, even if it is after the ride is certified, the MTF will notify the IBA and the certification will be revoked.

  2. The rider is responsible for doing TCLOCK!

T-CLOCK is a mnemonic developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation for assisting you in doing a comprehensive pre-ride (or a pre-purchase) inspection of a motorcycle. It is easily memorized and very useful. The individual letters stand for the specific areas to check:

  3. Tires and wheels
    Controls
    Lights and electrical
    Oil and fluids
    Chassis
    Kickstand

Special thanks to Bob Brown for his assistance in providing information for Edmundston. Bill Watt for providing assistance in Surrey. And most importantly to Bob Collins for his efforts in getting his concept approved by the IBA.
