Join us for a tour of seldom seen parts of the Smokeys for four days of back road riding in Tennessee, Georgia
and North Carolina. There will be a route for the more experienced dirt riders on true dual purpose bikes and
an easier route for the less experienced (to dirt) riders. The easier route will also be suitable for good
riders on big adventure bikes. Camping, cabins and motels available each night with both groups gathering for
an evening meal. LET'S GET DIRTY!
Rock and Rollers :: 600 mi. True dual sport bike and experienced - ~150 miles per day - rocky, steep, and rutted at
times. May see a mud hole. Powder Puff :: 450 mi. New riders and bigger 'adventure' bikes - ~110 miles per day - bypasses the harder sections
of the Rock and Rollers ride. NOTE: Because of the tour nature of this ride, all riders should have a GPS device on their bike with the routes
loaded, and be familiar with it's operation, or have a riding partner that does. We would like to make sure everyone
has an enjoyable time and can find their way to each nights destination. No one will ride alone.

Safety
In addition to requiring the use of a DOT approved helmet on all MTF rides, the MTF RRR Committee strongly encourages the use of
Motorcycle specific protective clothing and footwear while participating in any offroad event.
ATGATT reduces the severity of injuries in an accident and we want every participant in our events to be as safe as possible.
The MTF RRR Committee strongly encourages each participant in our events to self assess their riding
style, interests, need for breaks and riding skill level and to keep that assessment in mind when choosing a riding
partner or small group (2-4 riders) to ride with at our events. Sharing the road with someone of similar interests
and riding style not only makes the ride more enjoyable for you, but safer for everyone.
The third part of safety when riding in remote areas is knowing where you are and how to get out. For this reason each rider or
group of 2-4 riders should have a gps device with the routes loaded and be familiar with it's operation and use. Being lost in a
maze of endless gravel and dirt roads as darkness decends is a safety issue both for yourself and those who will have to search for you.
Lodging
This is going to be a tour type ride, not an out and back ride from the same location
each day. We will depart Bryson City NC the morning of September 9th, stop over night in Tellico Plains, TN,
Ellijay, GA, and Helen, GA, and finish back in Bryson City the evening of 9/12. Many riders will be camping.
Campgrounds are right along the route, and most will have fire rings and community gathering spots for some
evening story telling. For the non-campers, some of the campgrounds we are using will have cabins. Hotels are
available in each city for those who don't want to rough it (make your own arrangements - watch the forum for
riders sharing their plans).
Riders are responsible for making lodging reservations at each location or at a location of their choice.
