Smoky Mountain Rough Road Ride

Riding the Rough Roads of North Carolina,
Tennessee, and Georgia

September 15-19, 2014


The Smoky Mountains are calling...
All Rough Road Riders!

Join us for 4 days of rough road riding in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia.

We will tour the back roads of the Smoky Mountains, with camping stops at the Ironhorse Lodge, Cherohala Mountain Trails CG, and Two Wheels of Suches .

The ride will be 50/50 pavement vs. dirt, all on public roads.

Licensed dual purpose bikes are the preferred choice of transport, but the roads are suitable for experienced riders on a big adventure bikes.

Riders will be expected to carry their own gear and find their own way (We'll spilt into groups of 3 to 6 riders).

The routes will be built as "tracks" and will be available for download in a GPX file.
Gas and food is available along the way.

Safety

In addition to requiring the use of a DOT approved helmet on all MTF rides, the MTF strongly encourages the use of Motorcycle specific protective clothing and footwear while participating in any Flower Sniffin event. ATGATT reduces the severity of injuries in an accident and we want every participant in our events to be as safe as possible. Also the MTF strongly encourages each participant in our events to self assess their riding style, interests, need for breaks and riding skill level and to keep that assessment in mind when choosing a riding partner or small group (2-4 riders) to ride with at our events. Sharing the road with someone of similar interests and riding style not only makes the ride more enjoyable for you, but safer for everyone.

  • Cherohala Mountain Trails Campground (Kelly or Wayne will answer the phone). -The CMTCG has 7 cabins, all currently reserved, there is an RV that is suitable for a couple, tent camping is $10 plus tax per night. Also, they will rent you a tent, cot, sleeping bag, and pillow for $15 (in addition to the site rental) and set it up for you.
  • We will eat supper on the 16th and breakfast on the 17th at CMTCG. Mrs B will cater the meals. Andy will need a head count when we get closer to ride time if you desire to eat at CMT.

    NOTE: You MUST register first with the MTF through Ridemaster; afterwards you will receive an email with a personal code. Once you receive your personal code, use it when you call Ironhorse to make your room reservations.
