Safety
In addition to requiring the use of a DOT approved helmet on all MTF rides, the MTF Flower Sniffin’ Committee strongly encourages the use of Motorcycle specific protective clothing and footwear while participating in any Flower Sniffin' event. ATGATT reduces the severity of injuries in an accident and we want every participant in our events to be as safe as possible.

Also the MTF Flower Sniffin' Committee strongly encourages each participant in our events to self assess their riding style, interests, need for breaks and riding skill level and to keep that assessment in mind when choosing a riding partner or small group (2-4 riders) to ride with at our events. Sharing the road with someone of similar interests and riding style not only makes the ride more enjoyable for you, but safer for everyone.

MTF MO FS Elephant Rocks

This is the Red Route in the
GPX Route File below (after Ride #7)

How to use: Download Basecamp, download the MTF_MO_FS.GPX file below making sure it's named MTF_MO_FS.GPX or MTF_MO_FS.XML, open the GPX/XML file using Basecamp and look at the list of waypoints shown in a Tab named "My Collection" which is usually on the lower left of the Basecamp screen. Scroll down the list to MTF_MO_FS and click on the route name to view the route.
MTF MO FS Elephant Rocks / Johnson Shut-Ins State Parks Loop

310 miles 6h 30m

https://mostateparks.com/park/elephant-rocks-state-park
https://mostateparks.com/park/johnsons-shut-ins-state-park

These two state parks are some of the most interesting MO has to offer. Elephant rocks is a nice short stroll through fascinating boulders close to the parking lot. Johnson Shut-ins is a natural water park, with a river flowing through and around similar boulders. There may be a admission charge for this one, and a short hike to reach the interesting stuff. If the weather agrees, consider wearing your swimming suit under your riding pants for a quick dip, or at least soak your feet. The route itself goes through some of the most interesting motorcycle country in that part of the state, and you’ll enjoy some of those sweepers and rolling hills for which MO is known.
Ride #2:
MTF MO FS Northeast Loop

MTF MO Northeast Loop

218 miles 4h 30m

http://visithermann.com/

This is a nice ride with some great vistas as you cross several valleys. The turnaround point is Hermann, MO, a very historic German town with exceptional German food, wineries known for sweet wine, and a very enthusiastic Oktoberfest. The route takes you right into the heart of the little town, and it’s a good place for a break. (NOTE: As a responsible motorcycle organization, we don’t encourage drinking and riding; if you stop at a winery, they offer non-alcoholic drinks, and sell their wines to go so you can enjoy them once done riding. PLUS, the police heavily patrol this area. Please be smart.)
Ride #3:
MTF MO FS Northeast Loop + Wine Country loop

Click for larger image:

This is the Blue Route in the
GPX Route File below
MTF MO Northeast Loop + Wine Country loop

338 miles 7h 21m

This route builds upon the Northeast Loop by taking you across the Missouri River, and along the north side through some more technical roads and several very good wineries, and not just sweet wines like you find in Hermann. (NOTE: As a responsible motorcycle organization, we don’t encourage drinking and riding; if you stop at a winery, they offer non-alcoholic drinks, and sell their wines to go so you can enjoy them once done riding. PLUS, the police heavily patrol this area. Please be smart.) Once you cross the Missouri River for the second time in Chesterfield, MO, you’ll be in an urban suburb for a few miles. It’s a small price to pay for the what you’ll enjoy next. Wild Horse Creek road running behind Babbler State Park is an amazing technical road running through horse country; it’s just beautiful. You’ll twist and turn and rise and dive for miles, and you’ll ride right through Labadie, MO where a RTE was held last fall. After reaching Hwy 100, the technical part calms down for a while, and you head back to Hermann, MO along the south side of the Missouri River. If you have the time, this is a great ride.
Ride #4:
MTF MO FS Northwest Loop

Click for larger image:

This is the Yellow Route in the
GPX Route File below
MTF MO Northwest Loop

75 miles 1h 49m

This short ride takes you through some of the rural country north of the lake, and likely through Amish country. This is an ideal ride if you only have a few hours. It does contain a toll bridge.
Ride #5:
MTF MO FS Northwest Loop PLUS extra Northwest Loop

Click for larger image:

This is the Black Route in the
GPX Route File below
MTF MO Northwest Loop PLUS extra Northwest Loop

209 miles 4h 41m

This route builds on the short ride, heading east to Jefferson City, the state capitol. Jefferson City also contains Central Dairy Ice Cream Parlor, an unchanged gem from probably the 40s, where 30 – 40 ice cream flavors are always available. While it is not on the route, Central Dairy is listed as a waypoint in the file, and you can manually navigate to it while in Jeff City, if you desire. Heading north from Jeff City, you’ll ride along the south side of the Missouri River for awhile, before turning west through rural farmland, working your way towards Sedalia, MO (near the Whiteman Air Force base where the Stealth bombers call home; you may get to see one of these planes flying in the area, and if so you won’t forget it).
Ride #6:
MTF MO FS South Loop

Click for larger image:

This is the Green Route in the
GPX Route File below
MTF MO FS South Loop

194 miles 4h 16m

This fun route runs through the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, providing many vistas, sweepers, and elevation changes. You’ll enjoy both hardwood forests and pastoral lands. Fuel is not frequent on this route, so plan accordingly. Hwy A coming back to the Lake area is one of my favorites, and you’ll get to enjoy it on this route.
Ride #7:
MTF MO Southwest Loop

Click for larger image:

This is the Gold Route in the
GPX Route File below
MTF MO Southwest Loop

166 miles 3h 50m

This route is the “sleeper” of all the routes on this page. It shouldn’t be very interesting, and yet it continues to impress each time. For the most part it’s not tight and curvy, but contains such scenery that you just want to slow and absorb it. The views are not quite vistas, but are incredibly satisfying. It’s a great ride to unwind with. It does contain a toll bridge, and also enjoys Hwy A coming back into the lake, one of my favorites.

Camping:
Closest campground is:
Riverview RV Park
398 Wood River Rd
Lake Ozark, MO 65049
This one is nicely maintained, but a little tight for 40' rigs I'd think, but doable. Kind of woodsy with a pond, and next to the Osage River down stream from the lake. Found the owners to be very nice. Not on the lake.

Second Closest is:
Osage Beach RV Park
3949 Campground Rd
Osage Beach, MO

Not open when I visited, but area looked wide open and flat, with many pull throughs. Bit more parking lot appearing, but that may make docking your rig easier. Not on the lake or water

Bit further away, but on the lake:
Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground
257 Public Beach Rd
Brumley, MO 65017
