Why were many of the premium rooms reserved prior to the event
announcement?
Several MTF Members visited Clarkdale in October, 2006
for purposes of evaluating Clarksdale as a potential site for a future
Founders Feast. Reservations at the Shackup Inn historically are booked well
in advance so we decided to block all rooms for October 17 and 18, 2008. The
next thing you know, the astute folks attending the meeting started making
reservations. That wasn't the plan, but is how it happened so we allowed
those reservations to stand.
We also made reservations for MTF Board Members. Additionally we made an initial
announcement in 2006 and a few folks jumped on board.
Our volunteers work many hours without compensation.
Therefore we decided to make a pre-event announcement to the volunteers and
give them a shot at premium housing before announcing to the forum
membership.
